there will be extensive media coverage
between 1st July and 14th October (100 days) as 2,400 selected people will stand on the
fourth Plinth in Trafalgar Square each for one hour, over 24
hours, and do numerous fascinating things.
Many people (like
Yvette and David) are raising awareness for Charity. Some are
doing more outlandish things - one heavily tattooed gentleman is
going to sit in a bath of blood for his hour. Many are choosing
to do their slot in the nude. Yvette's husband Tony asked her
not to - "Because we haven't got a wide-screen television"!
The Plinth is
usually reserved for statues of royalty and Generals but until
October participants from all over the UK will become an image
of themselves, and a representation of the whole of humanity
Yvette will stand
on the plinth (or lay crying, gripping on to the sides due to
her vertigo!) and be wearing a sandwich board saying;
"Please could you make a donation
to our Registered Charity?
Buy a Duck for £5!
God Bless the Queen"
After FIFTEEN hours of cutting and
sticking (Blue Peter, eat your heart out) this is the notice
board that Tony and Yvette made;

Please note Ralph peeping out the
side - supervising.
Whilst on the Plinth, Yvette will be holding her Hook-a-Duck &
a stick and around her feet she'll have 200 tiny plastic ducks -
which she'll be putting on e-bay afterwards to raise funds*.

SEE NOTE BELOW
David (who starts a BA (Hons) in
Film Production at The University For Creative Arts in
September) is doing something much more artistic.
He's going on the Plinth then he
will
strip off,
(are you ready girls?) get changed into a costume, apply the
full make-up of 'The Joker' from the Batman Film 'The Dark
Knight' then he will play the bass guitar.
However, if it rains it'll have to
be a banjo!
His colleague Ste will be making a
film about his efforts - as another piece of art.
Yvette and David have got to sign in
two hours before their allocated slot to be frisked for
offensive weapons. Yvette's looking forward to that bit.
Sky Television are
making a documentary about selected participants and as they
both have
an interesting / quirky story they've expressed an interest in
featuring them.
The event will be shown live on the www.oneandother.co.uk
website and on the Sky website
http://www.skyarts.co.uk/art-design/article/antony-gormleys-one-other
Whilst they are actually 'being a
piece of living art' on the Plinth they will be making a 'blog'
for BBC Radio Nottingham and the local Radio Stations will ring
them whilst they are in situ.
All in all it looks like being a
very exciting event and they're both really looking forward
to their once-in-a-lifetime experience!
If you would care to sponsor their
fund-raising efforts, please click on the 'Donate' button above.
PLEASE NOTE:
Due to the fact that Yvette has NO idea what she's
playing at with her E-Bay account the ducks will only be for
sale by either sending a cheque for £5 or clicking on 'Donate'
and donating £5 - the duck will be sent to you via 1st Class
Registered Post.
Next week, once her
"Pay Pal Account has been verified" (sounds like a medical
condition) they'll be on sale via E-Bay too.
